Artist Biography
Thea grew up in a large immigrant family in southwestern Ontario near Lake Erie. She lived in Vancouver for 30 years and now lives on Salt Spring.
Thea is primarily a self-taught artist. She has been creating since she was a small child. Paper, scissors, fabric, and a cast-off camera (an old two-tone green plastic box camera with medical tape wrapped around it to cure the light leaks) were her earliest tools.
Thea utilizes photography, drawing, painting, paper and textiles in her work.
Spoken-word poetry inspires her use of words and rhythm. Experience, observation, emotion are given form. Her art combines her love of photography, knitting, 2D, 3D and both written and spoken words.
